I have had this style for years. I wear them in winter with socks. They are very comfortable, and the socks in winter keep my feet warm, and I still have comfort. I love birkenstock, so I wear various styles of birkenstock year round. I bought two pairs of these in lavender and will probably buy a third. With the lavender being only $33 a pair, you will never find them cheaper for this style. If you don't like the lavender, buy another color. Be sure to try this style.

I was looking for a non athletic version of a slide type sandal to slip on as I went about my household chores inside and out and this fit the bill nicely. I have had different types of Birkenstocks over the years, and have very good luck with the brand -- I also have a pair of Birkestock shoes and am on my feet all day as a school teacher. If you are not familiar with them, you need to understand that there is a break in period while the footbed gets used to your foot and like any shoe make or style, they are not for everyone. Previously, I had Arizona style sandals which were two strapped affairs with a heel strap as well. I wasn't sure how this slip on would work as my feet are somewhat narrow. But I am more than pleased. They fit on the foot well and keep you cool while still providing more support (and looks, in my opinion) than flip flops. I tend to get cold in places like movie theaters and grocery stores, but these provided enough coverage to avoid that while still keeping me cool in 90 degree heat. They also do not require feats (no pun intended) of toe gripping strength or anything to work. Amazon also had the brown leather style which was what I wanted as well. These sandals are leather, though, so if you are looking for shoes to wear in wet conditions, like on your kayak, these aren't it (that's not what I wanted - Teyvas are good for that). I was a Birkenstock convert for many years, so my only caveat would be to know whether the brannd works for you or not. Or, definitely give them a try if you haven't before. They are well made, and I expect this pair to last years as my others have.
