I have used these boots once so far since June of 2009 and they are very comfortable and easy to wear. I haven't put them to the full test yet but I am a novice hiker. I have had surgery on one foot and it wasn't at all uncomfortable.I do notice there is a lot to this boot but one feature is the lacing eyelets that can be somewhat awkward of you haven't used them before. The heel to toe action is good but could be better if the heel were wider than the achilles part of the boot.

I purchased a pair of these boots which seem to be what I wanted, although the trouble and dissapointment came with the ordering process which was a total disaster and really pathetic customer service on the part of Amazon and the seller, Backcountry. I first ordered the boots with my usual size and used a $50 gift card for Amazon to assist in the overpriced boots, but I liked the look, and other features, and stoopidly sent the order in for said boots only to receive them and find they were too small. I called the customer service at Backcountry, not Amazon, to arrange for an exchange. Well, it turned out that I had to order another pair, and send the other pair back. I didn't like that, but did it anyway. Well, it turns out the customer service doofus at Backcountry didn't tell me they would pay up to $6.99 to ship the item back, and he didn't apply my $50 gift card to the second purchase. I find out when I get my credit card statement that Backcountry did that. So if you order online, and the item is a sizing issue, then make sure it is the right size and you don't use a gift card, because now I am where I began, just $120 dollars lighter, and a $50 gift card still not used. Very dissapointing.
