I am in the USAF and I've deployed every other year for the last 10 years. In the beginnning I used the boots that were issued. As I got older those boots started hurting my feet and ankles, so I started to buy my own boots to deploy with. I've had Bates, Danners, and Altamas and they were all better than the issued boots, but I wasn't completely satisfied with any of them. I am currently deployed and purchased the Converse this time because of the side zipper which I've grown to love on combat boots and the re-enforced toe I have to have for my job. These boots are the most comforable I've ever worn, they are light and the heel gives the best shock absorbsion of any boot in my entire 22 year career. I reccomend these boots to all, especially if you are required to run in boots, they actually function like a sport shoe. The reason I didn't give them a full 5 stars is because the leather wears down fast. As I like these so much, I use a boot brush every day to keep them looking decent. If looks are unimportant, these boots are the best you can buy. Also the fact they are under $100 makes them even better. I've paid more and gotten less. I will buy another pair when I get back to wear on a daily basis with my ABUs. I'm not changing my rating, but these are actually worth a 5 star rating.
