Ella Moss Dress

The Roommate, released on the 4th of this month, made it to the top of the weekend box office. As per the producers, this thriller movie was targeted at women and strategically released during the Super Bowl weekend. So, I’m sure that while most men watched the Super Bowl over the weekend, a substantial number of girls showed up to watch the movie that Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly star in. This movie is about an emotionally disturbed girl Rebecca (Leighton Meester) who becomes obsessed with her roommate Sara (Minka Kelly).

At the premier of the Roommate, the Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester wore an attractive black Michael Kors cut out dress from the designer’s 2011 pre-fall collection. The attractive sleeveless dress has a leather bodice, a flowy chiffon jersey skirt and slits at the waist and back. Though Leighton carried off the gown with aplomb, do you think you would wear a similar dress, for instance, the cutout dress by La Femme or the Under.ligned leather paneled jersey maxi dress?

Leighton’s co-star, Friday Night Lights actress Minka Kelly, looked casual chic in one of the many pretty J Mendel dresses, with her hair loosely tied in a side braid. Made from a pale crinkle silk chiffon, the dress has sheer long sleeves, a deep V-neck, light beading and an assymetrical skirt. The Diane von Furstenberg ‘Helena’ wrap dress and the DKNY jersey surplice wrap dress are quite similar to the dress Kelly wore, although they come in more grayish hues. The Odealia draped Ella Moss dress could be considered a sleeveless version of the dress that Kelly wore at the premier. Personally, I think Kelly’s attire for the premier could have had more pizzazz or could have been dressed up a bit. Would you have dressed like Kelly for an all-important occasion?

One observation that has to be made is that the two stars of The Roommate have shown a distinct sense of style. Both, Meester with a stylish but sassy black cutout gown and Kelly with a casual chic pale full-sleeved dress, were elegant and brought the beauty of the dresses to the fore.
