This mom-to-be opts for loose-fitted dresses and to-die-for these footwear.  The espadrilles wedges are so cute and comfy that even pregnant women choose to wear them so that they do not have to compromise on their fashion statement. But is it worth the risk you are giving to yourself and your baby?

Wearing a high 5 inch heel is nothing less than operating two mechanical bulls with your feet! Women somehow have an immense love for heels and are ready to bear all the pain, agony and stress that come from wearing high heeled shoes. Leave alone this, they also do not realize the health hazards they are delivering to themselves. In fact a study says that almost 70% of foot problems can be kept at bay with proper fitted shoes.

In fact the Society of Chiropodists issued a warning to avoid the extra lift for all pregnant women. It can put both mom and baby in danger. High heels also shorten your calf muscles, alter your posture and increase pressure on your back and knees. The extra pressure on your joints increases all the more strain when you are pregnant and could lead to many foot, leg and back problems including varicose veins. When a woman is pregnant, the centre of gravity shifts and becomes a challenge with a baby bump after 25 weeks. Pregnant women also become vulnerable to spills with high heels.

Though high heels make for a fun fashion statement, yet aren’t very healthy for women irrespective whether they are pregnant or not. It is advised for women, especially who are pregnant to quit wearing high heels; that is not to say they should strictly turn to flats. The SCP recommends around a 1.2-inch heel on good supportive pumps. But the best choice would be to go for a flat, expandable cushion soled shoe. This will distribute the weight evenly and give your foot enough room to expand and breathe. Focus to acquire footwear that is more on supporting the foot and the circulation.
