Ipod Hoodie

Summer time is here and you will probably be going outside to enjoy the brilliant weather. Since we are pretty much glued to our gadgets and rely on them, we should do what we can to protect them. Lets go over the top five different ways that you can protect your gadgets from harm when you’re out enjoying the summer.

1. Hard or soft case

This is the most basic type of case that you can get your phone, iPod, MP3 player or other gadget. There are usually bespoke cases offered by original manufacturer but they tend to be expensive. Of course you can buy a generic case off of eBay but they’re usually of questionable quality. The cheapest cases tend to be made of silicone or other rubbery substances. These offer good protection for your gadget as it absorbs a bit of shock if dropped.

Hard cases offer less protection but often are made of nicer plastics or even metal. Hard cases will prevent your gadget from getting scratched up but won’t do much to absorb shock. I like to use hard cases because the silicone ones tend to stick to the insides of my pockets, making it difficult to take my phone out. Silicone also attracts a lot of dust.

2. Waterproof case

If you are going to the beach or doing anything that is near water, you’ll probably want to protect your gadgets from water. There are plenty of different water proof cases but make sure to get the ones specifically designed for your device. The one-size-fits-all waterproof cases are cumbersome and may not fit correctly.

There are plenty of cameras that are waterproof but if you don’t wish to buy a new camera, there are some cases that waterproof your camera so that you can use it underwater for your snorkeling adventures. There are also water proof cases for things like the Kindle. This will allow you to do some reading in the tub, in the pool, or on the beach.

3. A graphics skin

If you want to give your gadgets a bit of flair to distinguish it from its stock, generic look, there are plenty of companies that make skins for gadgets. 4. An invisible skin

If you love the industrial design of your gadget and don’t want a case or skin to mar its perfect design, there are invisible skins for your device. There are plenty of different invisible skin manufacturers like BodyGuardz and InvisibleShield. They are a bit more tricky to place on your device than say a GelaSkin because their clear design makes it more obvious. You’ll have to use a spray solution to help you maneuver the skin in the perfect position before using a squeegee to remove bubbles and  the solution.

5. Novelty cases

If you’re bored with the look of your gadget, you can get it a novelty case. There are silicone cases that have little fins and bits that make it look like a shark or penguin. If you want to give yourself and your gadget some street cred, you can get an iPod hoodie. These are good ways to disguise your gadgets or for conversation starters.
