How does one identify if it’s a parka or a trench coat? If you think about it, it is actually very simple. However I could not figure it out and after a lot of investigation I figured it out.

A parka is a winter weight coat. Did you know it has down filling also? Usually a very smart fur trimmed hood characterizes a parka which is typically knee length. In fact a parka is slightly boxy in shape and a plethora of colors are available as per your choices and preferences.

On the other hand a trench coat is usually made of polyester or cotton which is a much lighter fabric. While a parka has a zipper, this has buttons. Some other characteristics of a typical trench coat include the following:

There is a variety of colors that you can get in trench coats, while khaki and beige are hot favorites among customers. However recently I wore a double breasted leather trench coat and got compliments for it from several people!

I personally feel that you need both of them since a trench coat is perfect for spring while parka would do you good in the winter season.
