As advertised, these shoes are soft yet durable. The surface here in Iraq is covered with big rock gravel making it the most uncomfortable surface in the world to walk on. It absolutely shreds regular sneakers and trail running shoes. Hiking boots are too bulking to comfortably navigate the terrain, so making the right choice took some time and patience. After four years and several pairs of shoes to include boots, sneakers and low-cut hiking boots, I can safely say the Camp-Four-Man's Multi 13 by Five-Ten is the best choice for a comfortable and durable work shoe I've made to date in this region. Its all-around comfort is commendable and its toughness is exceptional. Although I'm in the process of leaving the Iraq Theater, I'm buying another pair to supplement my initial purchase. There is one caveat, because these are rock-climbing shoes, they fit small. If you're not planning on climbing in these shoes, it may be wise to go a half size bigger than your customary running shoe size.

I bought these because my hiking shoes were slipping on the wet rocks in SoCal canyons. The first time I wore them in a canyon I was absolutely amazed at their stick to rocks. I felt very solid on wet and slick rock. They were also very comfortable right out of the box.

I bought these shoes for my 14 yr old son, that had seen a show on the five ten products for climbing... He fell in love with the idea, although they cost a bit more than I wanted to pay, they have proven to be very a durable shoe. He is VERY rough on shoes we go thru about 4 pair or more in a single school year. They have also been right on size and he says they are very very comfortable..
