The Minimalist has many good features such as Gore-Tex, a good hood design, large functional vents and a overall nice fit. I have worn it in steady rain and it does keep you dry. Although this jacket may not be the be-all and end-all, it is a great balance of price and quality.

This jacket is great. Extremely light and packs easily into a small space. The hood has a velcro length adjustment on the back and two elastic tabs on the side. The waist also has two elastic tabs to tighten. I wear this around town and don't care about using it with a backpack, so I wanted the low pockets this jacket has -- there was an earlier version with the same name that was longer overall but had the pockets higher up where they'd be accessible with a hip belt on; check the images to be sure you're getting the right one. There's a third chest pocket. All the zippers are weatherproof but easy to use. The sleeves have no elastic, but do have narrow velcro fasterers that work fine. The chin has dri-clime lining so it's a little more comfortable than rubbing directly against the paclite. Big pitzips that don't affect arm movements. Runs slightly large. Overall, this is a super-light jacket that won't keep you warm, but will do a great job of keeping the wind and rain out.
