My 5yo loves her shoes. They have been very durable, and truly tested since she wears them almost every day and is very active. We've had no problems with the velcro. (Every pair of Merrell's I've had for myself I have loved and never had a "break in" period or problem with velcro.) We just bought a different model of Merrell shoe which my daughter didn't like nearly as much, so I am returning them. The Pacific Jump style didn't have the padding around the ankle or the thick cushion for the soles like these. They just felt stiff and uncomfortable to her. Now I am hunting for more of the Sprint Jump style so we can at least have a back-up if anything happens to this treasured pair!
