I ordered these in my normal size. They were too small. So I returned them and ordered the next half size up. They fit EXACTLY the same as the previous size. So now I've returned the second pair and have ordered yet another half size up. Eventually, I imagine I'll get something that fits.

I had to buy three pairs of these (and return the first two) in order to get a pair that fit. They definitely run small. I originally ordered a size 11. When those were too small, I went up a half size. No change. The 11 1/2 fit exactly the same as the 11. Then I tried a size 12 which is a full size larger than what I normally wear. Bingo! After finally getting a pair of these that fit, I will say they are very well-made and comfortable. Almost more like a boot than anything resembling an athletic shoe. Very nice feel. As some other reviewers have suggested, you might want to order a full size larger than what you normally wear.

I tested my new shoes by wearing them to work on Casual Friday. I am on my feet, walking and standing, all day. In the morning they were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Their support and spring were amazing. By the end of the afternoon my feet were tired (not an uncommon experience), but the shoes still felt light and comfortable. I have wide feet and often have trouble finding shoes that fit right. These do! Since my day at work, I've worn them for several casual days and an entire day in Yosemite. They're great for hiking, lounging, or walking in the city. They really do seem to provide a cushion for the heels. Like the New Balance athletic shoes I've worn for 8 years, they seem a little "off" after they're worn in, but they soon adjust to the contour of my foot. I will buy New Balance again the next time I need hiking or athletic shoes.
